What We Do

GPS data collection

Collecting information about the landscape is done with an accurate Global Positioning System (GPS). The GPS works by using the satellite network to register an exact location. The photos show the GPS in action on a quad and for those harder to reach areas, on foot. These points are stored to build up an accurate picture which is revealed in the next stage – GIS mapping.

GIS mapping

Back in the office, the Geographic Information System (GIS) – a digital mapping programme – is used to create and analyse maps with the GPS data. At this stage a backdrop of OS data or aerial photography may be added.
